850 pound Black Marlin successfully tagged and released off Cairns, Australia. Some awesome jumps and a fantastic closeup at the end of the fight. This was filmed during the 40th Aniversary Black Marlin Tag and Release tournament at the end of September 2006. Location is Linden Banks North East of Port Douglas, about 80 Km north of Cairns. Angler is Matthew Graham, boat is MV JoeJoe and skip is Barry “Cranky” Cross

Arguably the greatest of all big game fish; a leaping Black Marlin is one of the most spectacular sights in fishing….. and when they get up to over 1000 pounds, they really are a sight to behold… Check out the underwater footage and see just how fast these things can move!!

This 450 pound black marlin was caught off Cairns, Australia. After about 22 minutes it panicks and goes down deep, where the sharks live. Big mistake. At least we got to keep the Bill! As for the size, its the Captain who makes the call, not me. Barry Cross (skip) estimated it to be around 450lbs, so thats what i go with even though i might agree with some that its closer to 350 than 450. For a reference, at the end of the video when i’m holding the head, i’m 6′4″. Comments have been disabled after the Internet Trolls with no clue as to what game fishing is all about started dropping one liners. Educate yourself before you opinionize kids
